recommended Olympus Fellowship

From 2017 - 2020, Foam was involved in the organisation of recommended, a biennial fellowship for three promising emerging photographers working in the artistic field.

about the fellowship

The recommended fellowship is organised with Olympus, in cooperation with the Haus der Photographie / Deichtorhallen Hamburg and the Fotografie Forum Frankfurt (FFF). The recommended fellowship expands on Foam's commitment to Talent by adding personal coaching and cooperation at a European level with two other renowned exhibition venues.

Fellowship 2019/2020

The recipients of the Fellowship 2019/2020 are: Karla Hiraldo Voleau (Dominican Republic),Tobias Kruse (Germany), and Mika Sperling (Russia). The artists were selected by the curators of the photography institutions involved in the fellowship; Kim Knoppers (Foam), Celina Lunsford (FFF) and Ingo Taubhorn (Haus der Photographie). The artists will be working on a new body of work especially created for an exhibition which will be displayed at the three locations of the organising parties in 2020.

Fellowship 2017/2018

The fellowship recipients for the first year were Thomas Albdorf (b. 1982, Austria), Nadja Bournonville (b. 1983, Vimmerby, Sweden) and Lilly Lulay (b. 1985, Frankfurt am Main, Germany). The fellows were unanimously selected by the exhibition venues’ curators: Hinde Haest, curator at Foam; Celina Lunsford, artistic director of the FFF; and Ingo Taubhorn, curator at the Haus der Photographie.

Foam is supported by de VriendenLoterij, Foam Members, De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, the VandenEnde Foundation and the City of Amsterdam.

In 2022 Foam receives additional support from the Mondriaan Fund and receives a contribution through the Mondriaan Fund from the Ministerie van OCW.
