Richard Mosse, 2010
Platon from the series Infra
Created by Richard Mosse in 2010. This pink, unworldly and fairy-like landscape was taken in Congo.
The artwork explores genres such as documentary photography.
Documenting a place where war is part of everyday reality, Richard Mosse avoids traditional documentary war photographs. He used infrared film, an army tool, to detect the enemy’s presence, capturing green tones as pink. The atmosphere of his photographs navigates in the strange space between a grim fairy tale and the harsh reality of war where Platon, and the remaining series from Infra, result as a psychedelic nightmare.
